American Indian Graduate Center Scholarships
Deadline:  earliest is May 11, 2012
Summary:  They administer two different scholarship programs but both require students to be of American Indian or Alaskan Native descent.
 
 
Hatterscheidt Scholarships
Deadline:  March 23, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be SD high school seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 who show financial need.  Requires application, transcript, autobiography, and 3 letters of recommendation.  Thirty-three $1500 scholarships.
 
 
Summary:  Applicant must be the child of an active or former member of law enforcement and must have no more than 2 years left to finish their degree.  Preference will be given to SD residents who are majoring in criminal justice.  One $5000 scholarship.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must be Native American or of Alaska Native descent.  Requires application, transcripts, essay, and tribal enrollment documentation.  $2000 scholarships awarded.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must be high school seniors who participate in any South Dakota High School Activity Association events OR whose parents are Farmers Union insurance policyholders or members of the SD Farmers Union or a friend of the Farmers Union Foundation.  Requires application, transcript with test scores, essay, and letter of recommendation.  Twenty-five $1000 scholarships.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must have completed at least 1 year of college by Sept. 2012 and be enrolled in a retail or business-related program.  Requires application, transcripts, and 2 letters of reference.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must be Aberdeen Federal Credit Union members.  Three scholarships awarded, each for $500; one must be to a business major but the other two will go to any major.
 
 
Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation Scholarships
Deadline:  Range from March 15 to July 15, 2012
Summary:  Scholarships available to both high school seniors and current college students.  Some scholarships are also available for students who are not from the Sioux Falls Area, such as the Sioux Falls Area Retired Teachers Scholarship.
 
 
Howard Memorial Scholarship
Deadline:  March 23, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must attend or plan to attend NSU.  Requires application, tax return, and transcripts.  Over 25 scholarships awarded; up to $1000 each.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must currently be a junior entering their senior year for the 2012-13 school year and have an expressed interest in banking, finance or business.  Requires application, transcripts, and 2 letters of recommendation.  Your application will be considered for each of their 4 $1000 scholarships (Herman Lerdal Scholarship, Joyce Hazeltine Scholarship, David S. Birkeland Scholarship, and Alan B. Graff Scholarship).
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must South Dakota residents, of junior or senior standing, who are interested in South Dakota Corrections or the Human Services field.  One $500 scholarship.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants should desire a career in a trade supportive to the protection and enhancement of our natural resources and environment, such as business administration, accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, education, environmental science, and government administration.  Requires a letter, transcripts, and 3 letters of reference.  $1500 awarded.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants should be South Dakota residents majoring in fields relating to the protection and enhancement of our natural resources, environment, and/or solid waste industry, such as business administration, accounting, biology, chemistry, computer science, education, environmental science, and government administration.  Requires letter, transcripts, and 3 letters of reference.  Two to three scholarships awarded, ranging from $250 - $1000.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must be U.S. citizens and dependent children of member-system consumers/member-cooperative employees.  Requires application, transcript, essay, and applicant appraisal.  180 scholarships awarded, $1000 each.
 
 
Wells Fargo CollegeSTEPS Sweepstakes
Deadline:  August 5, 2012
Summary:  All students may apply.  By signing up to receive emails covering topics like saving, budgeting, financial aid, and managing student loans, students are entered into a drawing.  40 prizes awarded, $1000 each.
 
 
The Fruit Company Scholarships
Deadline:  April 30, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be new freshmen majoring in business OR be residents of the states of Oregon or Washington.  One $4000 scholarship.
 
 
Yankton College Scholarships
Deadline:  February 10, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be high school seniors with a family or friend relationship to a Yankton College alumni or former faculty/staff.  Requires application, personal statement, and 2 letters of reference.  Several $1000 scholarships.
 
 
South Dakota Board of Regents Scholarships
Annis I. Fowler/Kaden (Deadline:  February 24, 2012).  Must be first-time freshman elementary education major with a 3.0 GPA.  One $1000 award.
 
Ardell Bjugstad (Deadline:  February 24, 2012).  Must be SD or ND Native American freshmen majoring in agriculture or natural resource-related fields.  One $500 award.
 
Haines Memorial (Deadline:  February 24, 2012).  Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, be classified as a sophomore or higher, and be majoring in teaching.  One $2150 award.
 
Marlin R. Scarborough Memorial (Deadline:  February 17, 2012).  Must be classified as a junior during the Fall 2012 semester and have a minimum 3.5 GPA.  Each university may nominate one student.  One $1500 award.
 
 
Jump Start Scholarship
Deadline:  September 1, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be SD residents who graduate high school in 3 years or less.  Guaranteed $1771.34 for one year.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must be minority students majoring in accounting, management, MIS, or engineering and be classified as sophomores.  One scholarship valued up to $30,000 is awarded and includes internship opportunity.
 
 
Talbots Scholarship
Deadline:  January 3, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be women who have earned their high school diploma or GED prior to 2002 and who have at least 24 credits left to finish their degree as of fall 2012.  Up to 17 $10,000 scholarships and 1 $30,000 scholarship to be awarded.
 
 
Gilman International Scholarship
Deadline:  March 1, 2012
Summary:  Scholarships to help undergraduate students planning to study abroad for credit.  Applicants must be Pell Grant recipients who study abroad for at least 4 weeks in one country.  Preference give to students studying in non-traditional countries, from diverse ethnic backgrounds or disabilities and with high financial need.  Over 2300 scholarships awarded, averaging $4000 per award.
 
 
US Bank Scholarship
Deadline:  March 31, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be high school seniors or current undergraduates, and either US citizens or permanent resident aliens.  Forty $1000 recipients selected at random.
 
 
Mensa Scholarships
Deadline:  January 15, 2012
Summary:  Various scholarships available.  One application used for all general awards and some specific scholarships.  Applicants will be considered for local, regional, and national awards.  Requires application and 550 word essay.
 
 
Deadline:  October 3, 2011
Summary:  Preference will be given to applicants who are the child or grandchild of an owner or employee of an association member or a BHHBA staff member, as well as those planning a career in the home building industry.  Requires application, cover letter, transcript, statement of financial need, and three letters of reference.  Two $500 scholarships.
   
Deadline:  November 4, 2011
Summary:  Applicant (or their family) must be a subscriber of a SD Telecommunications Association member company (see list on application) and student must have completed at least 2 semesters of coursework.  Requires application, transcripts, statement, and two letters of recommendation.  $2000 scholarship for the Spring 2012 semester.
 
 
Deadline:  November 4, 2011
Summary:  Applicants must be from the Pierre/Ft Pierre area and enrolled in an agricultural-related field.  Requires application and 2 letters of recommendation.  Two $500 scholarships. 
 
Deadline:  September 1, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be South Dakota students who attended an eligible higher education institution in South Dakota.  Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and completion of the high school course requirements commonly known as the Regents Scholar curriculum.  Guaranteed to all students who qualify, $5000 over four years.
 
 
Deadline:  February 1, 2012
Summary:  Four-year full tuition and fee scholarships for South Dakota high school seniors who plan to major in and then become employed in one of the following critical need occupations: music education, special education, math education, science education, foreign language education, nursing, or in other allied health care fields.  Requires composite ACT score of 24 or higher, student must have graduated from a South Dakota high school with a 2.8 GPA or higher, and recipients must agree to stay in South Dakota and work in their critical need occupation for as many years as the scholarship was received plus one year.

American Indian Graduate Center
Deadline:  June 1, 2012
Summary:  Scholarships, fellowships, and loans available to American Indian and Alaska Native students.  Various requirements and award amounts.
 
 
Summary:  Applicants must be female U.S. citizens in or entering into post graduate education.  Requires application, personal statement, and 3 letters of recommendation.  One $1000 scholarship.
 
 
Yankton College Scholarships
Deadline:  February 10, 2012
Summary:  Applicants must be pursuing a graduate degree and have a family or friend relationship to a Yankton College alumni or former faculty/staff.  Requires application, personal statement, transcripts, resume, and 2 letters of reference.  Two $1000 scholarships.
