SERVE
SERVE is a student-led organization that promotes leadership and civic engagement through local, national and international volunteer service.
The board serves as a clearinghouse to help students connect with Aberdeen area non-profit agencies in need of short and long-term volunteers. Examples include the Aberdeen Boys & Girls Club, Aberdeen Family YMCA, Aberdeen Parks & Recreation Department, Humane Society, Kids Against Hunger, Salvation Army, Sanford Health and SPURS.
SERVE is a member of the national Break Away movement that helps colleges and universities design and implement alternative break trips to sites throughout the United States and internationally. Depending upon student interest, trips are sponsored during the winter, spring and summer breaks. In the past, Northern students have traveled to California, Oregon, Louisiana, Florida and New York.
Students interested in volunteering locally or participating in an alternative break trip should email SERVE at nsuserve@northern.edu or contact the Office of Student Activities by calling 605.626.3007.
Mission Statement
SERVE creates powerful local and national service experiences that change students through action, dialogue and support.
