NSU Institutional Review Board

Faculty, staff, and students are reminded that no research with human subjects may be conducted on or off campus without the advance review and approval of NSU’s IRB.

All faculty, staff, and students conducting human subjects research are required to complete online training through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program, regardless of whether their activities are externally funded, internally funded, or unfunded.

Individuals can register at the site, affiliate themselves with NSU, and complete the training appropriate to their discipline or status (social and behavioral sciences/education, biomed/physiology/health and human performance, or students). IRB protocols (applications) will not be approved until the applicant has completed the online training. This also applies to students participating in a faculty or staff member’s research project.

Completed applications should be submitted no later than noon each Tuesday to Unless a full board review is required, the IRB review process will be completed within 10 working days. Any changes to the research project required by the IRB must be completed before the board will approve an application. Additionally, the IRB review process must be completed prior to any applications for external grants.
