"The program is phenomenal and unlike any other I’ve come across. ...
We now have something we didn’t have before — HOPE."
"Without this program, our child’s future in school was looking painful—
was painful—regardless of the efforts we’d been making."
"Our son likes to read, but school was not challenging him, so he was bored and starting to act out. The Reading Clinic challenges him at his pace and he enjoys learning."
"Our son used to hate reading; now he even admitted he 'likes to read.'
... He thought he couldn't do it. Now he knows he can."
Welcome to the NSU Reading Clinic
Clinic sessions are held during the fall and spring semesters.
Students in grades 1-8 who are above, at, or below grade level readers or writers are invited to the clinic.
Each student will work with an NSU elementary/special education major supervised by clinic Director Dr. Timothy Houge. Offered to each child every semester are 14 one-hour tutoring sessions.
You don't have to live in or near Aberdeen to get help from the NSU Reading Clinic. Visit the Distance Tutoring Page
to learn more.
Northern State University's Reading Clinic will provide literacy assessment and instruction for 1st through 8th grade students who read above, at, or below grade level while providing opportunities for preservice teachers to develop their knowledge and skills as teachers of reading and writing.
