Matthew Kargol

Assistant Professor of Art

Matthew Kargol was born and raised in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He received his bachelors degree in art education from the University of Northern Iowa in1997. Matt continued his sculpture education as a Master's student art UNI. While a student at UNI he was selected to create a percent for arts commission sculpture for the Bettendorf Learning Center in Bettendorf, Iowa. After completing hi M.A. he taught for three years at the high school level and then returned to Graduate school at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. While at Clemson he was named the outstanding art graduate student and was accepted into the 2004 South Carolina Triennial. He was selected as one of 29 artists from a pool of 250 SC artists. He is an award winning artist with artwork in permanent collections in the Midwest. He recently moved to South Dakota from South Carolina with his painter wife and their 4 children. Matt teaches sculpture, art education, and art appreciation, at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
