Jesse Heinz Wins NSIC Decathlon

Jesse Heinz won the NSIC Decathlon that was held at Swisher Field on April 30 th and May 1 st. This marks Heinz third multi-event win of his career after winning the last two indoor titles. Heinz finally won the decathlon after finishing runner-up the past two years. Heinz led going into the final event and used a late surge in the 1,500 to win the event and bring his point total to 5,711 for the decathlon, 60 points better than the second place finisher. Heinz performed well in the throwing events as he threw 116-11 in the discus and 138-3 in the javelin.

Jesse Heinz, 5,711 points: 100-meter dash, :11.78, 695 points; long jump, 19-1, 548 points; shot put, 35-5, 534 points; high jump, 6-0, 670 points; 400-meter dash, :56.36, 545 points; 110-meter hurdles, :17.05, 619 points; discus, 116-11, 577 points; pole vault, 11-9, 509 points; javelin, 138-3, 473 points; 1,500 meters, 5:03.27, 541 points.
