Still unable to host a game due to a soggy Fossum Field, Northern State traveled to Sioux Falls to face Augustana Tuesday instead of entertaining the Vikings at home. Augustana won 15-5 and 11-9.
After a frustrating offensive output in the first game in which the Wolves (3-15) mustered only three hits, the bats came alive in the nightcap. Powered by 12 hits, NSU led for nearly the entire way in game two, but a five-run sixth inning for Augustana (11-16) turned an 8-6 lead to an 11-8 deficit. Northern scored again in the top of the seventh, but was unable to recover.
Sophomore second baseman Jimmy May (Ortonville, Minn.) went 3-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI to lead the Wolves in game two.
NSU's next scheduled action is at Southwest State Friday and at Wayne
State (Neb.) Saturday.
