Northern State got its first series sweep of the season as they swept Trinity Bible College 8-1 and 12-2 in Ellendale, N.D.on Monday. Senior Jason Kueffler had the game of his career going seven innings allowing just one earned run (on a home run) on three hits while striking out seven in the winning effort. At the plate Eric Borge (Mellette, S.D.) was 2-for-3 and scored two runs, Chad Hoffman was 1-for-3 with two RBI and freshman Kyle Weiger (Pierre, S.D.) got the first hit of his college career as he went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI.
In game two, NSU continued their solid pitching and hitting as Borge again led the way with the bat going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI as he continues the best season of his career. Borge has already set career highs in RBI, home runs, doubles, slugging percentage and batting average. He is also on pace to top his 2000 totals in hits and runs scored. Nate Krier was 1-for-1 at the plate with two RBI. Owen Olson (Denver, Col.) pitched five innings and allowed only one earned run to get the win for the Wolves.
The wins bring the NSU's record to 7-25 as they are set to face North
Dakota State University tommorrow.
