WOLVES
ROLL OVER TRINITY BIBLE
April
23, 2002

Getting
the party started -- Senior Eric Borge
celebrates with his team after leading off the bottom
of the first inning with a home run Tuesday. |
ABERDEEN,
S.D. -- Senior shortstop Eric Borge's leadoff home run was
a sign of things to come Tuesday in Northern's 17-0 romp over
Trinity Bible College (Ellendale, N.D.) in a non-conference
game at Fossum Field.
The teams
decided early Tuesday to move the game from Ellendale to Aberdeen
and play one nine-inning game instead of a doubleheader.
Borge's
shot started a 12-run first inning. The game was called after
seven innings due to the 10-run rule. He nearly had another
homer in the first inning on a blast that just went foul down
the left field line.
The Wolves
pumped out 18 hits on the day while holding TBC to just two.
Freshman pitcher Joe Dinger (Aberdeen) earned the win, with
sophomore sidewinder Shawn Young (St. Paul, Minn.) and sophomore
closer/utility player Alex Long (St. Helens, Ore.) also seeing
action on the mound.
At the
plate, sophomore designated hitter Jeff Eckart (St. Helens,
Ore.) was perfect, going 3-for-3 on the day with three RBI
and three runs scored.
The Wolves
(11-25, 1-15 NSIC) will play intra-state rival South Dakota
State in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at Fossum
Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
