BEARS FINSISH OFF WOLVES 16-8, 17-9

- Concordia-St. Paul completed the four-game sweep over Northern
State Saturday in St. Paul by defeating the Wolves 16-8 and 17-9.
The loss moves NSU to 11-31 on the season and 3-15 in league play.
Northern has now lost six in a row in the NSIC.

Concordia scored
eight runs in the first two innings and capped off the game with
a seven-run sixth to hand Northern State its third straight loss
16-8 on Saturday. The Golden Bears tagged Wolves pitcher Wesley
Fisbeck for 16 runs (11 earned) on 13 hits in the game while
NSU could only manage eight runs while stranding nine on base. Deacon
Burns paced NSU hitters with two home runs and a 3-for-5 effort
from the plate. Burns, who hit his 11th and 12th home runs of the
season in the game, scored three times and drove in three as well.
Jay Duehring also posted a three-hit game going 3-for-3 with
an RBI.

In
a game that featured 11 home runs, NSU suffered its fourth straight
loss falling 17-9 in the second half of Saturday's twinbill with
Concordia-St. Paul. The Golden Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead after
three innings and tacking on another ten in their final three chances
at the plate to hold on for the eight-run win. Deacon Burns completed
the weekend with a 1-for-3 effort in the game but hit his fourth
home run of the weekend on Saturday. Jay Duehring and Dave
Holoch were each 2-for-4 while catcher Steve Rixen was
2-for-3 in the game. Duehring and Holoch each hit two long balls
for the Wolves while Ben Cupp added a round tripper as well.
