STATE FALLS TWICE TO SOUTHWEST STATE

- Southwest State took two games from Northern State in Northern
Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Tuesday afternoon with
a come-from-behind 15-10 win and a 10-1 victory over the Wolves.

breif game summaries of the Wolves' doubleheader against Southwest
State on Tuesday:

Southwest State
poured on 12 runs in the bottom of the sixth to overcome a 9-3 deficit
and post a 15-10 win. NSU posted three runs in the first and extended
its lead to 6-3 after five but the SSU rally would be too much for
the Wolves as they suffer their fifth confernce loss of the season.
Deacon Burns was 3-for-4 in the game with three runs scored
and an RBI while Joel Backous, Wesley Fisbeck and Dave
Holoch each posted two-hit games. Fisbeck added a game high
four RBIs to go with his sixth home run of the season.

Southwest State
scored ten runs in the first three innings and held Northern to
just five hits as the Mustangs took the nightcap from the Wolves
10-1. Joe Dinger gave up six earned runs and struck out six
in the loss while Deacon Burns extended his hitting streak
to 12 games going 1-for-3 from the plate.
