HEAT UP, EARN CONFERNCE SWEEP OVER MINNESOTA, CROOKSTON

Crookston,
MN - Northern State got back in the win column on Friday with 8-7
and 22-3 wins over Minnesota, Crookston in NSIC action. The wins
mark the first of the conference season and are the first back-to
back wins since March 22.

Crookston on Friday:

Wolves pitching
gave up just four hits and NSU collected two key runs in the top
of the seventh to earn an 8-7 victory over Minnesota, Crookston
on Friday. The Wolves got on the board first with a three-run first
inning but the Golden Eagles held a 4-3 advantage until the top
of the sixth when the Wolves added three more. UMC came up with
one in the bottome half of the inning to trail 6-5 going into the
final frame when NSU put up two runs that would be matched by the
Eagles in the seventh. Jay Duehring led the way for NSU at
the plate going 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Deacon Burns
and Dave Holoch each had two hit games. Burn and Holoch
along with teammate Wesley Fisbeck each hit home runs for
NSU in the game. Fisbeck received his team high third win (3-1)
of the season while Joe Dinger pitched the final two innings
to earn the save.

Northern State
cranked six home runs and scored a season high 22 runs en route
to a 22-3 rout over Minnesota, Crookston. NSU held just a 2-0 lead
heading into the fourth but put up 20 runs in the next four innings
to seal the win. Jay Duehring, Joel Backous and Wesley
Fisbeck all posted three-hit games while Backous, Fisbeck, Ben
Cupp, Steve Rixen, Joe Fuller and Brendan Hinrichs all
hit home runs in the game for the Wolves. Joe Dinger went
the whole way for NSU giving up just three runs on eight hits in
the game. Dinger struck out six as well.
