HOLDS OFF WOLVES, COMPLETES WEEKEND SWEEP

Aberdeen, SD
- The University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs completed a four-game
sweep over Northern State with 17-1 and 8-2 wins over the Wolves
on Sunday afternoon at Fossum Field. UMD begins the NSIC season
with a 4-0 record while Northern State starts at 0-4.

breif game summaries of the Wolves' doubleheader against Minnesota-Duluth
on Sunday:

Minnesota-Duluth
scored 17 runs on 19 hits in game one of Sunday's doubleheader with
NSU in Aberdeen. The Bulldogs collected 13 runs in the first four
innings and put the Wolves away, allowing them to cross the plate
just once. Wesley Fisbeck had a 2-for-3 game while Brendan
Hinrichs was 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored.

Northern State
held a 2-0 advantage heading into the fourth inning, but it would
not be enough as Minnesota-Duluth scored eight unanswered to gain
the 8-2 victory on Sunday. NSU's Joe Dinger pitched all seven
innings giving up six runs and striking out three. NSU collected
four hits on the day. Leading the was was Deacon Burns who
hit 1-for-3 with two runs scored, a home run and two stolen bases.
