Wolves Split With Beavers

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Wolves split a two game double header with the Bemidji State Beavers on Saturday afternoon at Fossum Field. The Wolves dropped game one 6-2 but came back strong in game two winning 9-8.

The Beavers jumped off the a quick six to zero lead through four innings of play and never looked back. The Wolves managed to put two runs on the board in the fifth but fell short in game one.

Joel Backous pitched through three innings giving up six hits to the 16 batters he faced. Jared Olson finished the game giving up only one hit in four innings of play, striking out two of the 12 batters he faced.

Game 1 Stats

In game two the Wolves jumped off to a five one lead in the first two innings and added four more runs in the sixth. The the Wolves had the game in their hand in the seventh inning with two outs leading by four runs when Shaun Ross of Bemidji hit a three run homerun over the right field wall to make it a one run game. Charlie Woida stepped in to finish off the Beavers and take home his first save of the year.

Deacon Burns went three for three in game two scoring three runs along with Bemidji Keifer also going three for three for the game. Wes Fisbeck chiped in driving in three RBI's for the day.

Jared Olson picked up the win in game two allowing seven hits and Chalie Woida finished off the Beavers in the seventh pitching to just one batter to seal the win for the Wolves.

The Wolves are now 16-25 overall and 9-15 in the NSIC. The Beavers are now 13-33 overall and 10-16 in the NSIC.
