JOPLIN, Mo. - In the first game of the season Northern State (0-1) got a 7-6 win over Morningside College (0-4). The Wolves got 5 1/3 solid innings from Justin Downs, who got the win for the Wolves. Downs gave up 5 hits and 4 earned runs in the game. He also struck out five for the Wolves. Matt Geissler struck out two batters in the seventh inning to record the save for the Wolves.
Offensively the Wolves got 2 hits from Adam Kampsen, Mike Paulson, Payton McCleary. McCleary hit the game winning RBI double scoring Mitch Locke in the fifth inning. Aaron Kappes also had a good day as he scored 2 runs and had a double for the Wolves.
For Morningside Tom Kohle hit a two run homerun inthe fifth inning, but it was not enough to get the win.

JOPLIN, Mo.- In the second game Northern State got a very good outing from Nick Wallentiny (0-1), but it wasn't enough as Morningside (1-4) would defeat the Wolves 2-0. Wallentiney struckout six batters in six innings of work. He also gave up 5 hits and 2 earned runs.
Offensively Carlos Comacho had a double for Northern State. The Wolves got a hit from six different players in the game. The Wovles left the bases loaded in the first inning with no one out and had runners on second and third in the sixth inning but were unable to push anyone across the plate.
