ABERDEEN, SD – The Northern State Wolves (4-16, 0-4 NSIC) lost a pair of non-conference games to the Concordia, Moorhead Cobbers (4-10) at Fossum Field. The Wolves lost the first game 5-6 in eight innings and lost the second game 1-7.

In the first game the Cobbers jumped out to an early 4-1 lead. But the Wolves would score three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. that would be all the runs the Wolves would get as the Cobbers would tie the game up in the top of the seventh and then push winning run across in the top of the eighth to get their third win on the year.

In the first game the Wolves were led by Mitch Locke as he went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Payton McCleary was the only other NSU player to get two hits in the game as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

The Cobbers were led by Jake Krause as he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored an an RBI. Brian Knoblauch also had a good game at the plate as he went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI's. Matt Venturini got the win for the Cobbers as he pitched two innings, while only giving up one hit.

Adam Kampsen got the loss for the Wolves as he pitched three innings giving up 5 hits, 1 earned run, and 2 strike outs.

Game 2

In game two the Wolves jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but that would be all the offense they would get as the Cobbers would score seven unanswered runs for the 1-7 win.

In the game the Wolves had five different players get hits. Jamie Paul went 1-for-3 with the run scored and Justin Downes went 1-for-3 with the RBI.

Concordia, Moorhead got two hits apiece from Jake Krause, Matt Youngquist, and Chris Klabo. Mickael Hinde and Drew Zimmerman both had 2 RBI's in the game. Krause and Youngquist helped the Cobbers as they both scored twice.

Matt Geissler got the lost for the Wolves as he went six innings giving up 10 hits, 5 earned runs, while striking out three. Geissler falls to 0-1 on the year. The Cobbers Keven Engebretson got the win as he went three innings giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run.

The Wolves will be in action next when they play in Morris, Minn. on March 28th at 2:00/4:00 pm against the Minnesota, Morris Cougars.
