Wolves Sweep Morris 9-3, 8-5

ABERDEEN, SD - The Wolves used the first and the fifth inning to score all their runs in a 9-3 win over Minnesota-Morris.

Wes Fisbeck (picture right) led the Wolves' charge as he went 3-4 in game one, including two doubles and two RBIs. The Wolves racked up 13 hits to the Cougars six.

Charlie Woida (1-0) picked up his first win of the season as he went six innings giving up one run (unearned) on four hits. He was relieved by Tony Thomas, who went one inning, giving up two runs on two hits, but closed out the win for the Wolves.

Game 1 Stats

The Wolves used eight runs in the first three innings to pick up the 8-5 win and sweep the Cougars on the day.

The top three hitters in the Wolves lineup (Deacon Burns, Benji Kieffer, and Valdie Magstadt) combined four six of the Wolves ten hits and five of the seven RBIs in game two. Burns went 2-2 with a triple and two walks.

Joe Dinger (2-1) pitched all seven innings of game two to pick up the win.Joe Dinger (2-1) (picture left) pitched a complete game for the Wolves to pick up his second win of the season. Dinger gave up five runs on ten hits; struck out three and walked two of the 31 batters faced.

The Wolves improve to 6-12 overall on the season and 1-3 in the NSIC. MN-Morris falls to 0-13 overall.

The Wolves return to conference play on Saturday, April 3rd when they host Wayne State (NE) for a double-header starting at 1:30 p.m.
