Wolves Swept on Day Two

ABERDEEN SD - The Wolves were swept
on day two of their four game series with Concordia St. Paul.
The Wolves lost game one 7-6 after giving up the go ahead run
in the top of the seventh inning on an error in left field. With
the wind blowing out the Wolves dropped game two 8-23.
The Wolves rallied from a 6-3 deficit
to tie the game at six in the bottom of the sixth inning, only
to give up the game winning run in the top of the seventh when
the left fielder misplayed a routine fly ball that allowed a run
to score. On the day the wolves misplayed at least four balls
in the outfield. Jeff Demarco lead the wolves offensive attack
as he went 4 for 4, scoring twice and knocking in a run. Deacon
Burns went 3 for 4 in game one driving in two RBI's and scoring
once.
Charlie Woida (1-1) picked up the
loss after coming in to relieve Rhett Gunderson in the sixth inning.
Woida gave up one run (unearned) on no hits in his two innings
of work. Gunderson gave up six runs on nine hits, struck out five,
and walked two of the 26 batters he faced.

The wolves started game two with a
four to two lead after two innings of play when Concordia put
together a 10 run third inning charge and never looked back. The
Bears added an additional 10 runs in the last two innings to seal
the sweep for the day.
Deacon Burns, Ben Cupp, Mike Murdy,
and Brian Berendse all homered in game two. Burns and Cup also
went a respectable two for three while Murdy went three for four
driving in three and scoring two himself. Charlie Woida made another
appearance in game two pitching five innings and giving up 15
hits and 14 runs the the 28 batters he faced.
The Wolves are now 13-22 overall and
7-13 in the NSIC. The Wolves will travel to Huron on Tuesday April
27th
Concordia St. Paul is now 15-18 overall
and 12-10 in the NSIC.
