Wolves Turned Away at Concordia St. Paul

Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State (5-23, 0-6) lost a pair of games to Concordia St. Paul (17-9, 3-5) Thursday afternoon. The Wolves gave up four runs late in game one to lose 4-2 and were shelled 15-3 in game two. Same two teams meet again tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m.

Northern State lost game one 4-2 as Justin Downes took the loss. Downes (0-3) went all six innings giving up four runs on nine hits while striking out two of the 28 batters he faced.

Mike Paulson went 2-for-3 in the game with a solo home run. Paul Gerrish got his first collegiate home run as he also homered in the second inning. That would be all the runs the Wolves would get as they left four on base. Raymond Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a double in the first, but was unable to score.

The Wolves lost game two by the score of 15-3. Again all the Wolves runs came off of solo home runs. Adam Kampsen (5), Justin Downes (2) and Gerrish (2) all hit solo shots in either the fourth or sixth inning. For Gerrish it marked his second career homer and second of the day.

Andrew Corre (1-1) got the start for the Wolves and gave up six runs on seven hits over 1 1/3 innings. Jackson Strain came in for the next 3 2/3 innings giving up six runs (five earned) on six hits before Tom Keiser finished off the final inning giving up three runs (two earned) off of two hits and a walk.
