Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State (7-32) lost a non-conference game to Hub City rival Presentation College (12-18) by the score of 10-4. Both teams committed four errors in the game, but the Wolves were held to only three hits. The same two teams meet again next Wednesday, May 3 rd in doubleheader action at Fossum Field in Aberdeen, S.D.
The Saints opened up a scoreless game in the bottom or the third when they scored seven runs on six hits and two Wolves errors. The Saints capped off the inning with a three run homer to lead by a touchdown.
The Wolves rallied back in the top of the fifth when they scored four runs off one hit. The Wolves used multiple wild pitches to advance and score during the inning. The Saints pitcher Zach Harry had three wild pitches in the inning, but still did not give up any earned runs due to three Saint errors. Paul Gerrish knocked a two run homer during the inning as well for the Wolves.
Presentation would add three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the scoring. For the game the Saints had 10 runs (eight earned) on 11 hits. The Wolves had four runs (none earned) on three hits.
Adam Kampsen got the start for the Wolves and went five innings giving up nine runs (seven earned) on ten hits. Kampsen did strike out seven of the 28 batters he faced. Gerrish went the final three innings for the Wolves giving up one run on one hit while striking out four.
The Wolves travel to Wayne State (NE) this weekend for a four game series with the Wildcats on Saturday and Sunday.
