Jacks 4 Homers Over Weekend
St. Paul , Minn. – Northern State’s Justin Downes (DH/P, R-Jr., Atwater, Minn.) was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week for his performance over the past week. Downes batted .684 over the week smashing four home runs and nine RBI. He was 13-of-19 at the plate, scored six times while having a slugging percentage of 1.368 as the Wolves went 1-5 last week. All of Downes home runs and RBI came in the Wolves weekend series against SW Minnesota State. Downes doubled his home run total over the weekend as he now has seven dingers on the season.
This marks the first time that Downes has been named NSIC Player of the Week in his career. Northern State’s Adam Kampsen was named NSIC Player of the Week back on March 20 th of this year.
Northern State split a doubleheader with the University of Mary last Monday, April 17 th before being swept at SW Minnesota State in four games this past weekend. The Wolves are now 6-30 overall and 0-12 in the NSIC.
The Wolves next action is Tuesday, April 25 th when the host Mayville State for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader. The Wolves then take on Presentation College Wednesday, April 26 th in one nine inning game starting at 3:00 p.m. This Saturday and Sunday the Wolves return to NSIC play when they travel to Wayne State for a four game series.
