Northern State splits with Dakota Wesleyan

MITCHELL, S.D. - The Northern State Wolves (3-9) split a two game series with the Dakota Wesleyn Tigers. The Wolves lost the first game 3-2 and then won the second match-up 4-2.

In the first game the Wolves were able to jump out to an early 1-0 lead but the Wildcats would come back to tie it up in the bottom of the second inning. The Wolves would regain the lead in the top of the fourth inning 2-1 but the Tigers would score one run in the the sixth and seventh innning to get the victory.

In the game the Wolves had five different player get one hit apiece. The runs were scored by Justin Downes and Tom Keisser. The Tigers had four different players get one hit to lead them. Brock Pashen went 6 2/3 innings giving up three earned runs and four hits for the Wolves. Janssen got the win for the Tigers going the full seven innings striking out eleven batters and only giving up five hits and two earned runs.

In the second game with the Tigers, the Wolves jumped out to a 2-1 lead and scored two more times in the game to get the 4-2 victory. Offensively the Wolves were led by Adam Kampsen as he went 3-for-4 with two runs. The Wolves freshman Payton McCleary also went 3-fof-4 and batted in one.

The Wolves used three pitchers in the game to get the victory. Nick Wallentiny went 2.0 innings giving up two hits and one run. Mike Paulson got the win as he pitched 4.0 innings giving up one hit, one earned run, while striking out 2. Adam Kampsen got the save as he went one inning striking out one batter.

The Tigers Anderson got the loss as he only pitched one inning, but gave up three hits, and two runs.
