WOLVES
OFFENSE ROLLS TO 56-27 WIN

Moorhead,
Minn. - The Northern State offense did what it
does best, racking up 555 total yards and
six offensive touchdowns in NSU's 56-27 victory
over Minnesota State Moorhead on Saturday afternoon.
The
Wolves got on top 14-0 midway through the second
quarter on touchdowns by Josh Martin and Ronnie
Cruz but the upset-minded Dragons pulled withing
a touchdown with 2:47 to play in period two to
give the Wolves a 14-7 halftime advantage.
Northern
State's Charlie Johnston gave the Wolves some
separation on the scoreboard as Toby Korrodi found
the sophomore for two third quarter scores to
put NSU up 28-7 with 5:17 left in the period.
MSUM
would climb back into things, however, as quarterback
Jon Frykman threw a touchdown pass at the end
of the third and another at the beginning of the
fourth to pull the Dragons within 28-20.
NSU
answered the MSUM rally on its next drive when
Toby Korrodi hit tight end Ben Hanson on a gadget
flee-flicker with 10:44 to go in the game.
Moorhead
didn't go away, though, as they scored once again
with 6:23 to go in the contest to pull within
eight at 35-27.
Northern's
offense responded as it has done so many times
this season with a five play-78 yard drive capped
by a 21-yard Ronnie Cruz burst to put the game
out of reach, 42-27.
NSU
added two interception returns for touchdowns
by Jason Carson and Steve Espinoza to polish off
the scoring as the Wolves finished the game on
the winning end of a 56-27 score.
GAME
NOTES:
-Ronnie
Cruz paced the Wolf offense with 30 carries for
209 yards and two touchdowns.
-Toby
Korrodi threw for 294 yards and four scores on
20-of-43 passing.
-Charles
Williams posted a game high 12 tackles including
three for a loss.
-Charlie
Johnston led the NSU receiving corps with five
catches for 67 yards and two touchdowns.
