GAIN EDGE OF OFFENSIVE POWERS IN DOME

Minneapolis,
Minn. - Winona State quarterback Brian Wrobel
threw for a school-record six touchdown passes
to lead Winona State to a 49-27 NSIC victory
over the Wolves on Friday evening in the NSIC
Metrodome Classic.
Things
looked great for Northern State early on, as
the Wolves jumped out to a 14-3 lead midway
through the first, but WSU's Wrobel threw for
two of his TD strikes to answer and put the
Warriors on top 17-14 after one.
Winona
was able to hold NSU's high-powered offensive
attack in check and scoring a second quarter
touchdown to put them up 24-14 at the break.
In
the third quarter, the Warriors offense exploded
for 24 unanswered points before Toby Korrodi
found Travis Heitmann for a 47-yard scoring
strike to end the third with a 49-21 WSU advantage.
The
Wolves added a Matt Pinto TD reception in the
fourth but would not be able to rally as they
fell by their largest margin of the year, 49-27.
NOTES:
-NSU
quarterback Toby Korrodi broke the Northern
State school record for single season passing
yards going for 381 on the day and bringing
his season total to 3,143. Korrodi was 31-of-58
on the day with three touchdowns.
-NSU
running back Ronnie Cruz rushed for 97 yards
on the day bringing his season total to 1,354.
-WSU's
Brian Wrobel threw for 311 yards and six TDs.
-WSU's
Chris Samp posted nine catches for 154 yards
and four scores.
-Northern
State (6-4, 4-3 NSIC) will complete its 2003
campaign at Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday,
Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
