RONNIE CRUZ NAMED NSIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ABERDEEN, SD - Northern State senior running back Ronnie Cruz (Kelseyville, Calif.) was honored as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference co-offensive player of the week for his performance in NSU’s 24-21 win over Augustana (S.D.) on Saturday.

Cruz, a 6-1, 235-pound, senior, rushed for 94 yards and two Wolf touchdowns while receiving three passes for 55 yards and another Northern State score. Cruz accounted for all three of the Wolves’ touchdowns on the day and 18 of NSU’s 24 points.

Cruz shares this week’s offenisve award with Winona State’s Chris Samp who caught seven passes for a school record 281 yards and one touchdown in the Warriors’ 49-13 win over Truman State.

Northern State (1-0) will host St. Mary (Kan.) on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Swisher Field.
