Johnson, Olson Receive Player of the Week Honors

ABERDEEN, SD - Northern State defensive back T.J. Johnson (Groton, S.D.) and kicker Owen Olson (Denver, Colo.) earned this week’s NSIC defensive and special teams players of the week awards, respectively.

Johnson, a 6-0, 175-pound junior, had six solo tackles, one pass break up and an interception in the Wolves’ 46-7 victory over Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday. On the season, Johnson has posted the team’s second best tackle total with 21 on the year.

Olson, a 5-11, 185-pound senior, kicked field goals of 30 and 36 yards and averaged 34.0 yards per punt in Saturday’s contest. Included in his punting average were two punts downed inside the 20 yard line. This marks the second time this season and the fifth time in his career that he has won the award.

Northern State will take its 3-1, 1-0 NSIC record on the road next weekend when they face Wayne State (Neb.).
