Korrodi Returns with 4 TD Performance
Aberdeen, S.D. - Toby Korrodi made his return to the Wolves line-up and after getting rid of some early cobwebs finished with four touchdowns in the Wolves 37-10 win over MSU Moorhead in front of more than 5,000 fans on homecoming at Clark Swisher Field.
After falling behind 3-0 the Wolves rallied for 28 points on three Korrodi passes and a seven-yard dash from Rudy Jones to take a 28-3 lead into the half. Korrodi hooked up with Wade Ginsbach on a 28-yard pass with 6:47 left in the first quarter to begin the Wolves scoring. The second quarter saw Matt Pinto catch his second touchdown of over 50 yards when him and Korrodi hooked up on a 51-yard scoring strike with 12:49 left in the half. Travis Heitmann hauled in his first TD of the season on an 11 strike from Korrodi with 10:54 left in the second.
The beginning of the second half was filled with turnover as MSUM came out and intercepted their second Korrodi pass (the first coming at the end of the first half) on the Wolves opening possession. The Dragons took the ball down to the Wolves 27 before Waleed Gaines picked off a pass on his own five-yard line. The Wolves returned the favor on the ensuing possession after Josh Martin coughed upped the ball on the Wolves 34. MSUM went 39 yards on 11 plays and scored on a six-yard scamper for Rolan Sessions bring the score to 28-10. The Wolves added a 24-yard ClintonArial-Ryan field goal and Pinto hauled in his second TD of the game from 23 yards out to end the scoring at 37-10.
In the game there were nine turnovers; the Dragons fumbled three times and were picked twice, while the Wolves fumbled and were picked twice each.
The Wolves out gained the Dragons 444 to 274 in the game. The Wolves had a balanced attack as they finished with 248 yards rushing and 207 passing.
Rudy Jones finished the game with 134 yards on 21 carries and a TD to lead all rushers. Korrodi went 14-32 for 207 yards, four touchdowns and two INTs. Matt Pinto led the Wolves in receiving with two catches for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively the Wolves held the Dragons to only 74 yards rushing. Josh LeBrun, SteveEspinoza, and VeailaTupua were tied for a game high ten tackles. LeBrun played his best game of the season as he finished with ten tackles, three for loss, two sacks, and two quarterback hurries. Waleed Gaines finished with three tackles, but had two INTs in the contest.
The Wolves travel to St. Paul next week to take on Concordia St. Paul at 1:30 p.m.
Josh LeBrun (6'2, 210, R-So., DE, Dell Rapids, S.D. - St. Mary HS) had a game high ten tackles, including three for a loss, two quarterback sacks and two quarterback hurries in a 37-10 victory over MSU Moorhead. LeBrun nearly doubled is total tackles from a year ago (5.5 in 2003) in just one game while picking up his first two career sacks. LeBrun shared the award with Bemidji State's Torry Joubert.
LeBrun is the second Wolf to be named player of the week in the young 2004 season.
