NSU Football to Hold 4th Annual Day of Champions
ABERDEEN, S.D. - The United Way of Northeastern South Dakota along with Northern State University football will hold their fourth annual "Day of Champions" community service project this Saturday, April 29, 2006. The Aberdeen Sertoma Club will provide funds for food while Pepsi and the Salvation Army will provide drinks for the volunteers over the day. This will mark the fourth consecutive year that the Northern State Football team will help out around the region; although Head Coach Chris Boden has moved this project from a fall activity to one they will do annually every spring.
The Northern State football team will supply 50 volunteers for eight hours adding up to 400 total hours put
towards the community.
The Northern State football team will leave the Barnett Center at 8:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m. The follow projects will be completed this Saturday:
1. Boys & Girls Club – general outside cleaning, painting, etc.
2. Tiger Post & Ipswich Community – help with renovation of golf course; fill planters around town
3. Stratford Community Theater, Legion Hall, City – sheet rocking; dirt work, hauling rock, pouring concrete
4. Aberdeen YMCA – playground area at Learning Tree replacing sand, wood chips, etc.
