NSU Invite Results
ABERDEEN, S.D. - The women's golf team finished second out of three teams at the NSU Invite on Tuesday, their second runner-up finish in as many days. The Wolves came in behind Jamestown College, who took Monday's meet, as well.
NSU finished the day with a score of 429, while Jamestown had a showing of 362. Presentation College, the third team at the Invite, came in last with 546 strokes. Allison Johnson posted NSU's best score, with 43 swings in the front nine and 49 in the back nine for a total of 92. Rounding out the scorecard for NSU was Amanda Glentz with 98, Kylee Radloff with 103, and Celia Westphal with 136.
Jamestown's Gretchen Bietz took the meet with a total score of 84, 38 in the front and 46 in the back. Teammate Daniall Deis finished second with 87 strokes.
On the men's side, with 331 total swings, Northern took a third place finish out of four teams. They fell in behind the University of Mary (ND) (308 swings), who narrowly edged out Jamestown College (309 swings) for first place. Finishing last was Presentation College with 387 strokes.
NSU's top finisher, Clay Bak, posted an Invite best score of 72 swings. Next for the Wolves was Dustin Shelle with 78 strokes, Phil Hettich with 88, and Ben Funouits with 93.
The men's golf team will see their next action at the NDSU/Concordia College Invite, Sept. 15-17. Both the men's and women's teams will make the trip to Jamestown College for an Open Sept. 17-18.
