ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State men's basketball fans got their first taste of 2007-08 basketball as the Wolves hosted Black Hills State in an exhibition game Saturday evening. Northern topped Black Hills 77-75 with a 21 point effort by Levi Hamilton. The Wolves shot 54 percent from the field and 58 percent from three point range. Ratzsch Leads Wolves In Exhibition

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Kevin Ratzsch scored a team high 12 points in an exhibition game against Marquette University on Sunday evening. The NCAA Division I Golden Eagles took an 83-55 decision at Bradley Center. Box Score
Ratzsch Pegged Preseason All-American

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State forward Kevin Ratzsch has been named a preseason All-American by the Basketball Times. Ratzsch, a 6-5 junior from Bloomington, Ill., led the NSIC in scoring in 2006-07 with 18.6 points per game and was named to the All-NSIC First Team. The Wolves open their season on November 15 with a 7:00 p.m. home game against Mount Marty College. Full Story

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State's men's basketball team received 81 points and placed second in the 2007-08 NSIC Coaches' Preseason Poll. Defending National runner-up Winona State was voted unanimously to finish in first place in the league this season. The Wolves went 21-8 and finished in third place in the NSIC with a 13-5 record. Majerus Arrives For Coaching Academy

ABERDEEN, S.D. - Rick Majerus, the featured speaker at this year's Don Meyer Coaching Academy, arrived in Aberdeen on Thursday. With a mix of humor, rhetoric, and insight, Majerus fielded questions from local media about his re-entry into college coaching (Majerus was hired as the head men's basketball coach at St. Louis), his time spent as an ESPN analyst, and his relationship with Don Meyer. He also attended a social with the NSU Wolves Club. Majerus will hold a session on the development of post players on Friday morning at the Coaching Academy.

NSU Basketball Draws High Crowds

ABERDEEN, S.D. - The Northern State men's and women's basketball teams continued to draw some of the largest crowds in the NCAA Division II in 2006-07. Released by the NCAA, the NSU women's basketball team ranked third in the nation for average attendance, bringing in 2,402 fans to each home contest. The men's side ranked fourth in the nation with an average 3,160 fans per game. Full Story

2006-07 Season Wrap-Up

The Northern State men’s basketball team finished the season with a record of 21-8. This marks the sixth season in a row that the Wolves have surpassed the 20-win mark. The team finished tied with Concordia-St. Paul for third in the league with a 13-5 mark, but edged out the Golden Bears for the higher position with a stronger strength of schedule. The Wolves’ season ended in the semi-finals of the NSIC Red Baron Men’s Basketball Classic when they were defeated by Southwest Minnesota State 82-63 in Winona, Minn. Full Story
