WOLVES THUMP MARYCREST 93-70

Jan. 2, 1999

Northern State started the new year by dominating Marycrest International University (Davenport, Iowa) 93-70 in Wachs Arena Saturday night.

Junior guard Dan Fischer (Bagley, Minn.) wasn't affected by the two week holiday layoff, stroking nine 3-pointers en route to a game-high 29 points. Fischer finished two treys short of tying the school record for 3-pointers in a game (Eric Kline poured in 11 from downtown in a 1994 game).

Marycrest, which never led in the game, cut NSU's 44-30 halftime advantage to as close as nine points one time early in the second half. Amer Brackovic led the Marauding Eagles with 20 points.

Redshirt freshman Brad Hansen (Tea, S.D.) made his presence felt in the paint, scoring a career-high 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go along with seven rebounds.

The 11th-ranked Wolves host Northland College Wednesday, Jan. 6 before opening the conference season at home against Bemidji State Saturday, 7 p.m. Both games are slated to start at 7:30 p.m.
