Northern State started with a 13-0 run and never looked back, overwhelming Northland College (Ashland, Wis.) 95-65 Wednesday night in Wachs Arena.
The Lumberjacks didn't break into double digits until the seven-minute mark in the first half. NSU held a commanding 53-20 lead going into halftime.
Junior guard Dan Fischer (Bagley, Minn.) hit five three pointers and led NSU with 21 points on 8-of-13 overall shooting. Sophomore guard Jared Miller (Mitchell, S.D.) added 18 points, including four treys. Sophomore center Ben Dahl (Cottonwood, Minn.) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds (five offensive) to go along with 12 points. Freshman post Andy Foster (Caledonia, Minn.) rounded out the Wolves' double-digit scorers with 10 points.
Northern opens the conference season Saturday against Bemidji State
at 7:30 p.m. in Wachs Arena. The women's game has been moved to 1 p.m.
Sunday instead of preceding the men's game Saturday.
