WOLVES COME ON LATE TO DOWN DRAGONS

Feb. 3, 1999

After playing to a 31-31 tie in the first half, Northern State went on a methodical 23-14 run during the first 10 minutes of the second half to slowly gain control of the game and eventually win 76-62 Wednesday night in the Barnett Center.

The Dragons (5-16 overall, 2-5 NSIC) were led by Tunde Adelekan, who netted a game-high 20 points on a lot of difficult shots. The Wolves (16-5, 6-1) recovered from a dismal 37 percent shooting first half to post a 52 percent mark in the second stanza.

Junior guard Dan Fischer (Bagley, Minn.) led the Wolves with 19 points on 50 percent shooting, including four treys. But NSU's main punch all over the court was ever-steady junior point guard Scott Hanson (Tolna, N.D.), who recorded a double-double with 16 points (on five-of-six shooting) and 10 rebounds.

Freshman post Andy Foster (Caledonia, Minn.) did not play due to a sprained ankle suffered against Winona State. It was the first game Foster hasn't played in this season.

The Wolves received no help from outside sources, as Winona State defeated Bemidji State in overtime to stay undefeated within the conference. The Warriors handed NSU its only conference loss of the season last weekend and stay atop the NSIC.

The win was NSU coach Bob Olson's 300th.
