WOLVES TOO MUCH FOR BULLDOGS

Feb. 13, 1999

Before 4,500 fans, Northern State earned a methodical 75-63 win over Minnesota-Duluth Saturday night in the Barnett Center.

Much of the crowd was decked out in summer gear out for NSU's annual "I Hate Winter" and Parents' Night. On the floor, the Wolves were plenty warm, shooting a scorching 68 percent from the field in the second half to finish at 55 percent for the game.

In his second career start, sophomore guard Jared Miller (Mitchell, S.D.) led all scorers with 20 points (including six treys) to go along with seven rebounds, four steals and four assists. Senior forwards Mark Rich (Aberdeen, S.D.) and Kyle Johnson (Coon Rapids, Minn.) tallied 18 points and 12 points, respectively, to round out NSU's double-digit performers. Josh Quigley led UMD (11-14, 4-6 NSIC) with 17 points.

NSU (19-5, 8-1 NSIC) is still very much in the hunt for the NSIC title, trailing only Winona State. The Warriors (13-10, 9-0 NSIC) did not play Saturday. The two meet up in the regular season finale for what could be a battle for the conference championship. But first things first, NSU has a tough two-game road swing next week with games at Southwest State and Minnesota-Morris.
