WOLVES DOWN ST. CLOUD STATE

Nov. 22, 1998

NSU made it four straight wins over North Central Conference foe St. Cloud State Sunday afternoon with a 75-63 win over the Huskies.

SCSU, which finished second in the NCC last season, never led in the game, but hung tough with the Wolves in the first half. The Huskies cut NSU's lead to two points with just under 16 minutes remaining in the game, but NSU responded with a 23-6 run that effectively put the game on ice.

Junior guard Dan Fischer (Bagley, Minn.) led all scorers with 17 points. He was 5-of-9 from the 3-point line. Senior forward Mark Rich (Aberdeen, S.D.) had another well-balanced game, scoring 11 points, hauling down seven boards, tallying three steals and dishing out five assists. Freshman post Brad Hansen, starting for the injured Ben Dahl (out with recurring foot injury), chipped in 14 points and also had three blocks.

Jeremy Schmidt and BJ Brant led SCSU with 13 points apiece.
