Northern State never got its offense on track in an 83-59 loss at Winona State Friday night.
The Wolves (13-12 overall, 10-7 NSIC) were within striking distance at the half, going into the lockerooms with a 42-33 deficit. But Winona (17-8, 14-3) shut the door on the game early, starting the second half on a 10-2 run and spending most of the rest of the game with at least a 20-point lead. NSU scored just 26 points on 38 percent shooting in the second stanza.
NSU freshman guard Nick Schroeder (Osseo, Minn.) led all scorers with
21 points. Freshman forward Sundance Wicks (Gillette, Wyo.) led NSU on
the boards with eight rebounds. Kyle Schlaak led WSU with 16 points and
nine rebounds.
