Northern State cut an 18-point second-half deficit to four points with five minutes remaining, but was unable to get over the hump in what ended up a 92-79 loss at Concordia-St. Paul Saturday night.
A jumper by sophomore post Brad Hansen (Tea), cut the C-SP lead to 69-65 with five minutes, eight seconds remaining, but NSU would muster just one point in the next four minutes of play, while C-SP rebounded to run up 13 points during that time to ice the game.
Hansen scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting on the night and notched his team-high third double-double of the season by pulling down 11 rebounds. Junior post Ben Dahl (Cottonwood, Minn.) also put up a career-high 20 points for the Wolves. Dan Driefke led C-SP (10-20 overall, 5-13 NSIC) with 29 points.
Northern travels to Southwest State Tuesday, Feb. 29 at 7:30 for the first round of the NSIC Tournament.
