Nov. 27, 1999
During the first night of NSU's 1999 Thanksgiving Classic, the Wolves recovered from a sluggish start to edge Rockhurst College (Kansas City, Mo.). During the second night against Southern Colorado, NSU never fully recovered from a rocky first half and the Thunderwolves escaped Wachs Arena with a 79-65 win.
Rockhurst defeated Moorhead State 65-56 in the early game on day two.
NSU (2-2) shot an abysmal 27 percent from the field during the first half but found themselves down only seven points going into the second stanza. But the invisible lid on NSU's basket didn't come off in the second half, either, as the Wolves shot just 33 percent from the field. On the other side of the ball, USC (4-0) shot 53 percent in the second half to keep the Wolves at bay. NSU drew to within four points with three minutes remaining, but it was as close as the score would come.
Junior guard Jared Miller (Mitchell) led the Wolves with 20 points. Senior winger Dan Fischer (Bagley, Minn.) led the boards crew with a career-high 11 rebounds to go with seven points. Senior point guard Scott Hanson (Tolna, N.D.), in his second game back from an ankle injury, turned in 11 points and three assists. The Thunderwolves were led by Bob Carmody's 20 points. Four USC players turned in double digits in points.
Following are the All-Tournament team selections:
