Feb. 14, 2001
In what was probably the last home game of the season for the Wolves,
and the last home game of the career for the two
seniors, the Wolves dominated the Cougars in a 94-63 win.
Fittingly, it was the senior's night to shine, as Ben Dahl (Cottonwood,
Minn.) led the Wolves with a career high 25 points (tied
with his career high earlier in the season) and a season-high 7 rebounds.
Not to be outdone, senior Jake Phillips (Manchester,
Iowa) the consummate crowd favorite, had a thunderous dunk in the last
three minutes of the game and left to a standing
ovation.
Dahl had 19 first half points and junior Brad Hansen (Tea, S.D.) had
11 rebounds in the first half as the Wolves were up
48-32. Hansen finished with a career-high 14 rebounds. Eleven of the
twelve active Wolves saw playing time, ten of them
scored, and five scored in double-digits. Junior Andy Foster (Caledonia,
Minn.) had 15 points, and a monster dunk,
sophomore Nick Schroeder (Plymouth, Minn.) had 11 points and junior
Drew Gruver (Scott City, Kan.) and freshman Steve
Smiley (Arvada, Col.) each had 10 points.
The win improves the Wolves record to 12-11 overall and 8-7 in
the NSIC, while the Cougars fell to 3-20 overall and 1-14
in the NSIC. The two teams will battle again this Saturday, Feb. 17
as the Wolves will travel to Morris.
