Northern State took control early and never looked back, drubbing Mount Senario College (Ladysmith, Wis.) 104-46 Monday night in Wachs Arena.
The Wolves had 12 players break into the scoring column, with five reaching double digits. Junior forward Houston Reed (Olathe, Colo.) led the way with 23 points and a team-high nine rebounds. NSU controlled every facet of the game, outrebounding the Fighting Saints 51-32, shooting 52 percent from the field while holding MSC to 33 percent, and forcing 28 turnovers on the night. Junior point guard Roland Williams (Ft. Worth, Texas) picked up eight steals to go along with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Also netting 12 points on the night for NSU was junior Drew Gruver (Scott City, Kan.), junior post Brad Hansen (Tea) and junior guard Nick Schroeder (Plymouth, Minn.). All of Schroeder's points came on 3-pointers. He also led the team in assists with seven. Mount Senario was led by Traimaile Bullock's 16 points.
Northern (4-5 overall, 0-2 NSIC) will spend the rest of its non-conference
week on the road, taking on University of North Dakota Saturday in Grand
Forks. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
