Tony Birmingham scored a career-high 18 points Saturday night
vs. Minnesota-Morris. |
Northern State
set a school record for 3-point attempts Saturday night and tied
the program mark for 3-pointers made, going 18-for-39 from distance
en route to a 109-57 victory against Minnesota-Morris in a Northern
Sun Intercollegiate Conference game at the Barnett Center.
Redshirt freshman
Tony Birmingham (Moorhead, Minn.) led all scorers with a career-high
18 points and was one of seven Wolves to reach double figures.
Birmingham was also one of three Wolves to net five
3-pointers on the night, going 5-of-10 from long distance. Junior
wings Nick Schroeder (Plymouth, Minn., 5-of-9) and Sundance Wicks
(Gillette, Wyo., 5-of-7), were the other two.
Senior forward
Houston Reed (Olathe, Colo.) posted his first double-double at
Northern, pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds to go with 11
points. Fellow senior Andy Foster (Caledonia, Minn.) almost posted
a double-double of his own, recording 17 points and eight rebounds.
Minnesota-Morris (2-15, 1-8 NSIC) was led by Adam Girtman's 12
points and seven rebounds.
With the win,
Northern (7-2 NSIC, 12-5 overall) ended the first half of the
NSIC season in a tie for first with Minnesota-Duluth (7-2 NSIC,
9-8 overall).
