NORTHERN OPENS NSIC PLAY WITH 78-60 WIN OVER GOLDEN BEARS

St. Paul, Minn. - The Wolves captured a conference opening 78-60 win that snapped a four-game losing streak at Concordia-St. Paul on Sunday night.

Northern took a 42-30 lead into the halftime break after getting off to a rather slow start in its first game in 15 days.

The Bears drew within four, 48-44, midway through the second but the Wolves made a 14-2 run to give them a 62-46 lead. NSU built its lead up to 26 with just under three minutes to play and then held on to win by the final score of 78-60.

--NSU was paced by Aaron Busack who notched a game-high 20 points on the evening.

--Nick Schroeder threw in a season-high 18 for Northern State.

--The Wolves shot 47.6 percent from the floor on the night while hitting at a 37.5 percent clip from three-point range.

--Northern held a 38 to 29 advantage rebounding.

--NSU's Sundance Wicks pulled down a team high nine rebounds.

--CSP's Thomas Blunt and Jerome Brooks each posted 15 points on the night. Blunt added a team high nine rebounds.

--Northern State (4-5, 1-0 NSIC) will face Winona State Monday night in Winona, Minn.
