NORTHERN GAINS TOUGH ROAD WIN OVER MSU MOORHEAD

Wolves guard Jarod Obering hit for a career high 21 in Northern's 75-71 win over MSU Moorhead on Friday.

Moorhead, Minn. - The Northern State men's basketball team kept on rolling on Friday night with a big conference road win over Minnesota State Moorhead, 75-71.

The game was very close the whole way through as the game was tied six times in the first 8:15 of the contest. Northern made an 8-0 run midway through the first to build a 27-19 lead with 8:24 to go but the Dragons would regain a lead at 29-27 before allowing Northern to take a 35-34 advantage into the locker room.

NSU made a 9-4 run to open the second but Moorhead kept in the game tying it up for the tenth and eleventh times of the night early in the second.

Northern built its lead up one more time, 65-56 with 8:08 to go and held off the Dragon rally and held on to a 75-71 win.

--NSU's Jarod Obering hit for a career high 21 points going 7-of-10 from the floor and 4-of-7 from three-point range.

--Three other Wolves scored in double figures with Sundance Wicks scoring 13, Dustin Hjelmeland with 12 and Nick Schroeder with ten.

--Wicks hauled in a team high six rebounds while Steve Smiley dished out eight assists.

--Northern shooters were on fire all night hitting nearly 59 percent of their shots on the evening (27-of-46).

--Moorhead outrebounded the Wolves 36 to 27 on the game.

--MSUM was led by Marlon Samuel who hit for 20 points and nine rebounds.

--NSU plays at Minnesota-Crookston on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
