TURNS BACK THE CLOCKS, MORNINGSIDE 100-75

Aberdeen,
S.D. - Over 2,800 fans saw the Northern State men's basketball
team turn back the clocks on Monday night as the Wolves downed
Morningside 100-75 in its former home, the Aberdeen Civic Arena.
NSU
had no trouble with the team from Sioux City, Iowa as they rolled
to a 55-42 lead at the half and the 25-point victory.
The
100 points scored by NSU marks a season high for the 2003 NSIC
regular season champions. It is also the first time that the Wolves
have scored 100 points since Feb. 8, 2002 when they hit for 101
against Minnesota, Crookston.
Matt
Hammer led the Wolves charge with a career high 19 points on the
night. The freshman from Elkton, S.D. hit 7-of-10 from the floor
including 3-of-4 from three-point range.
The
Wolves saw five others hit double-figures in points including
Aaron Busack with 14, Dan Lund with ten and Sundance Wicks, Jarod
Obering and Steve Smiley all with 11.
NSU
shot a lethal 55.9 percent (38-68) from the floor on the night
and hit 50 percent (13-26) from three-point range.
The
Wolves also won the battle on the glass outrebounding the Mustangs
36 to 26 on the game.
Dan
Lund led the way for NSU rebounding with five in the contest while
Jarod Obering paced the Wolves with six assists.
Morningside
shot at a respectable 50.9 percent (29-57) clip for the game.
They were led by Eddie Ceaser with 18 followed by Tom Regan with
14.
NSU's
Charlie Johnston, playing in his old arena for the first time
since coming to Northern, had a career high four points on the
night for the Wolves.
Northern
State will finish NSIC regular season play on Friday night when
they travel to Minnesota-Morris.
