WOLVES
HAVE NO TROUBLE WITH COUGARS IN 70-51 VICTORY

Morris,
Minn . - Freshman Matt Hammer led the Wolves with 15 points and
seven rebounds in Northern State's 70-51 victory over Minnesota-Morris
on Friday night.
The
game marked each team's final regular season contest and, for
UMM, their final game as a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate
Conference.
UM-Morris
kept pace with the NSIC champions for the first five minutes of
the game until NSU used a 22-4 run to kick start what would be
its 15th straight win over the Cougars.
Northern
held a lead as large as 34 points in the second half but UMM fought
back to pull within 19 at the final gun.
The
Wolves were led by Matt Hammer for the second straight game. Hammer
notched 15 points and seven rebounds in the game. Dan Lund finished
with 14 points on 6-of-11 from the floor while Adam Grant turned
in a ten point, six rebound night.
The
Cougars' Adam Girtman recorded a solid performance with 11 points,
ten rebounds and seven assists for the home team. David Holler
completed his 15th straight game in double-figures with 11 on
the night.
Northern
State (19-8, 15-3 NSIC) will host a first round game in the NSIC
tournament next Wednesday, March 5. Tickets will go on sale beginning
at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the NSU ticket counter.
