SECOND
HALF RUN GIVES WOLVES WIN OVER BISON

Aberdeen,
S.D. - Four
Northern State players scored in double-figures as the Wolves
used 12-2 run in the second half to break a tie ballgame and defeat
North Dakota State 81-59 in basketball action on Saturday night.
NSU
led by as many as nine in the first half until CoCo Cofield hit
a layup and a free throw to bring the Bison within six at the
break.
NDSU
picked things up early in the second period tying the game three
separate times before the Wolves used a 12-2 run to take a ten
point lead with 8:45 to play.
The
Wolves were able to add to their lead and gain separation en route
to a 22-point, season opening victory.
Jarod
Obering and Adam Grant paced the NSU hoopsters with 16 points
each followed closely by 14 points from Aaron Busack and 12 points
by Matt Hammer.
Steve
Smiley tied his career high with nine assists on the evening while
Obering and Smiley led NSU on the boards with five each.
NDSU
held a slim 29-28 advantage rebounding but the difference in the
game was the Bison's 24 turnovers to NSU's 13.
Northern
State (1-0) will continue non-conference play on Friday night
when they host Jamestown at 7 p.m. in Wachs Arena.
