LEAVES FORMER NSIC FOE IN THE DUST

Aberdeen,
S.D. - The
Minnesota, Morris Cougars put a bit of a scare into the Wolves
on Saturday night before Northern State could pull away for a
95-81 victory on Saturday night.
The
game remained tied at 18-all with 9:37 to play in the first before
NSU closed the half with a 34-21 streak to put them up 52-39 at
the break.
The
Cougars pulled within two points again in the second half, completing
a 6-0 run with 16:30 to play with the score 57-55 Northern State.
The
Wolves then got back on track with a 10-0 run to go up by 17 points
with 10:14 left in the game.
Northern's
lead would be as large as 21 in the half but UMM spent the last
5:38 outscoring NSU 11-4 to finish the game with a 95-81 tally.
Junior
guard Jarod Obering led NSU's offense with 24 points including
a 7-of-12 performance from the three-point arch. Aaron Busack
completed the second double-double of his career with 12 points
and 11 rebounds.
NSU
shot just over 49 percent from the field and knocked down 35.7
percent (10-28) from three-point range. UMM hit 47 percent from
the floor and just 3-of-16 from downtown.
Northern
State (3-0) hosts Si Tanka Huron on Friday at 7 p.m. in Wachs
Arena.
