OUTSHOOT WOLVES IN 94-83 BSU VICTORY

Bemidji,
Minn. - Bemidji
State shot 54 percent from the floor and nearly 46 percent from
behind the three-point arc as the Beavers toppled Northern State
94-83 in NSIC action in Bemidji on Tuesday night.
Neither
team led by more than six points in the first half that was closed
out by an electifying dunk by BSU's Martez Young countered with
a Luke Wicks three-pointer to make the BSU advantage 39-37 at
the break.
The
Wolves got right back in the game and earned a one-point lead
with 9:31 to play before the Beavers made an 11-0 run to make
the lead 72-62 for the home team.
Northern
would get within six but BSU's Adam Daly hit two three-point shots
and James Roberson made two jumpers and four free throws down
the stretch to seal the game for Bemidji State.
The
Wolves had four players hit double-figures led by center Aaron
Busack who netted 22 points on 8-of-10 from the floor and 6-of-6
from the free throw line.
Jarod
Obering hit four three-pointers en route to a 16-point night and
led NSU with six assists. Adam Grant hit for 14 points on the
evening while Matt Hammer had 11 and a team high eight rebounds.
Northern
shot at a respectable 48.5 percent from the floor whle hitting
8-of-23 from three-point range but shot just 64 percent from the
free throw line.
The
Wolves won the rebounding battle ripping down 38 boards compared
to BSU's 33.
The
win gives BSU a 3-0 start in NSIC play for just the second time
in 32 years while the loss brings NSU to 0-2 in league play for
the first time since 1999-00.
NSU
(7-5) comes home to face Southwest Minnesota State on Friday night
in Wachs Arena. Tipoff is 8 p.m.
