CATCHES FIRE, LEADS NSU OVER MUSTANGS, 88-72

junior Jarod Obering drained a career high nine three-point field
goals and
hit for 29 points to guide Northern State to an 88-72 win over
Southwest Minnesota State in Wachs Arena on Friday night.
The
Wolves trailed by as many as five in the first half but collected
itself in time to take a six-point lead just before the break.
The Mustangs came back with two buckets in the paint before Obering
knocked down a three just before the halftime buzzer to give NSU
a 40-35 lead at the half.
In
the second half, it was "Obi time" as the junior began
what would be a half featuring seven three-pointers with one right
out of the gates.
NSU
built a double-figure lead less than three minutes into the period
and extended the advantage to 20 by the 10:00 mark and held on
for a 16-point victory.
Obering
paced all scorers with 29 on the night going 9-of-13 from downtown.
The guard was also the team's second leading rebounder with six
on the night.

Hammer and Adam Grant contributed 15 points each to the Wolves'
scoring cause while Steve Smiley cleaned the glass for NSU with
a team high eight rebounds.
Elijah
Starzl hit for a team best 27 points on 10-of-17 from the floor
for Southwest.
The
Wolves shot just over 49 percent from the floor on the night and
hit at a 50 percent clip (14-28) from long range in large part
to the Obering effort.
Northern
State hosts Wayne State tomorrow night in Wachs Arena at 8 p.m.
