JAROD OBERING SHARES NSIC PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

ABERDEEN, SD - Northern State junior guard Jarod Obering (Beatrice, Neb.) was honored as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Basketball Player of the Week for his performance in NSU’s 81-59 season-opening win over North Dakota State on Saturday.

Obering, a 5-9, junior, scored a teamhigh 16 points and led the Wolves with five rebounds in NSU’s lid-lifter against the Bison. On the night, Obering was 6-of-14 from the floor while hitting 4-of-8 from long range in the game. Obering also tallied two assists in thirty minutes of play, as well.

Last year, Jarod was named to the all-NSIC first team after scoring 11.4 points per game and ranking second on the team with 109 assists in his sophomore campaign.

Obering shares this week’s award with Concordia-St. Paul’s Brian Jamros.

Northern State (1-0) will entertain Jamestown and Minnesota, Morris this weekend in non-conference action.
